These people are a lower form of life. We had better realize that they will violate the Geneva Convention at will and treat them accordingly.
My thoughts and prayers to the Johnson family.

I'm horrified at the brutality - my heart is with the families who live with these crimes.

We have also violated the Geneva Convention, at will. Both in Iraq and in Guantanamo Bay. Should we be treated accordingly, then?

We have to strive to be something better, and set an example. Incidents like the death of this poor man should be an impetus for us to strive to set the highest examples of international law, to obey the Geneva Convention to the fullest, and not to be no better than a band of terrorists. It is not a call for revenge, and to crawl down to that level.

If we can blatantly torture and kill prisoners, then it's a poor message that we send to the rest of the world. Americans become even more vulnerable that we already are.

What happened to him (getting his HEAD CUT OFF) was a bit worse than what happened to the prisoners in Iraq, don't ya think????? At least those people are STILL ALIVE ! i'll put a pair of undies on my head anyday before getting beheaded. :uhoh21:

There is NO EXCUSE for what happened to him! I can't believe you are justifying it with "we violated blah blah blah blah" those people are full of hate and ARE indeed a lower form of humans , they truly get off on hate. :angryfire

A number of prisoners were murdered, and/or died under very "suspicious" circumstances.

But this isn't a one-upmanship of cruelty. Once you violate international law, then the sky's the limit. My point was that we have violated the Geneva Convention, we have killed prisoners and tortured others--both in Iraq and Guantanamo Bay--and that we need to set a higher standard. We should be an example. Otherwise, then we are no better than an al-quaida death squad, if we think international law is just something to be trifled with, as it suits us.

The difference is that we are supposed to be a great and civilized society, a democracy. We are supposed to be setting an example in Iraq--not stooping to the level of bands of thugs.
