American Idol 2005!

  1. OK fans, I know some of us grew disappointed with last year's fiasco re: voting problems, popularity contest VS REAL entertainment skills competition, etc. So are you sufficiently recovered to be looking forward to the 2005 edition, starting January 18???!! I read that the format is changed a little (will do female VS male at first, somehow???), and they'll tone down on the guest judges (can anyone enlighten me on this part?). Wonder if I'll get tired of the same old-same old re: judges . . .

Come on, don't be shy! Tell us how you REALLY feel! I know, I know: some hate it, some love it! Me, I'll try it for awhile; will take it on a show-by-show basis.

Oh, and in an interview in TV Guide, Randy said there'd be no William Hungs this year.

i love idol so i will be watching (great destresser from classes!) I heard that they will give equal spots in the top twelve to males and females (must be 6 and 6), some of the guest judges that have been announced are Brandy, and gene simmons.

I never have understood why they featured Quentin Tarrantino as a guest judge last season. . . Silly me, I thought the guest judges would have to be IN the music industry, not just in the entertainment industry . . . ???

I guess Dianah it was because they were doing movie night, and he's a movie director and a fan of the show.

I'll definately be watching again this year. I've been hooked for three years, I'm sure this year won't be any different.

heheheh.....I was there every week last year for the A.I. thread, and surely will be there this year. Although I usually skip the first few weeks, although they are funny, my favorite part is when they get to the final 12.

Yes, I like the beginning, the middle and the end, although for different reasons and widely divergent entertainment value!!

O.K. fans, it's getting goods. Anybody see the guys sing Monday night? Whatcha thinking? I'm off to watch it now but bumping this up for some new chat.

(This is for fans of the show. I know many people think it's a crock of do do, so if you want to dis the AI franchise, feel free to express your opinion in another thread and leave this one to the fans. Thanks so much.)

I can tell it's going to be a good season. I went along with the judges this week and liked the rocker guy Bo, the teacher guy that sang Moon River, and Mario at the end. The other guys were o.k. and I thought some of them could have done better. The Stevie Wonder songs were a bit tedious and if I hear one Celine Dion or Whiteny Houston song tomorrow I'm screaming! LOL
