America...Land of Opportunity (Yeah, Right!...Rant)

  1. Only in America can one get a layoff notice....and then get stopped for speeding going UP a hill ???....ALL in the same day, like I just did today.

Thank you, Corporate America and to my Local Police Department, for making this the WORST Christmas for me...EVER!

This day has TOTALLY sucked. I wish I had stayed in bed.

    :icon_hug: Sucky day!

I got pulled over for speeding right after I left a stoplight.

Something tells me it was a different reason alltogether - DWB :stone

America is still a land of opportunity.

And my experience is the worst things usually happen for the right reasons, even if you can't see it yet.

Smile, Life is still good and you'll land just fine on your feet.

    You'll see.

Today was a little better. I got home tonight and received an e-mail from a prospective employer, asking me if I could come to work for them right away. It's not what I want, for the job is 40 miles from where I live and has no benefits, either. But, beggars can't be choosers, so I guess I'll have to take it and run with it. It's either make the money to pay those a$$-holes the fine for the speeding ticket I got yesterday, or spend Christmas in jail. And don't even get me STARTED about that again. I may not have any money to fight it or have the political clout of those good-ol'-boys who own the town who run this SPEED TRAP at the outskirts of its city limits, but I am going to have my say about it...with a copy of my letter sent to the govenor of this state. I know it's not going to do any good, but this is the first and ONLY speeding ticket I have ever gotten in the 37 years I have been driving, and I am going to exercise my First Amendment rights...whether they like it or not! :angryfire

You're right...as usual, Timothy. Where else can you get a layoff notice one day...and a job offer the next?

There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Glad to read that you are better today. Congrats on the offer.
