Am I Pregnant???

  1. I know this has nothing to do with nursing, but I figured some of you might be able to help me out! Ok, I'm 24, I stopped taking birth control pills in March, I got my period regularly after that. Now my period is 15 days late, I've taken home pregnancy test and they've been negative!
    Any ideas?

It is common to miss a menstrual period after stopping birth control pills. It is also very easy to become pregnant. I would see a Physician, personally, and advise it professionally. I hope all works out well for you.

I think the best advice to give would be definately to consult your doctor. I went through something like this back in May. I had been on Depo for about two years and when I turned 22 my mothers health insurence would no longer cover me under her family plan. So without health insurance I discontinued taking Depo and did not take any other form of BC. Eventually my period came back and was regular to a T. I could almost just about estimate when it was comming. But for some reason in May I was late. Usually come around the 15th of each month. At about a week and a half late I just know I had to be preganant! I took 3 box home test all (-). Finally, I went in to a clinic and the nurse gave me one (she said that theres were more effective than the over the counter ones ) It came back (-) too. She told me that I should wait another week and come back because it may be to soon to tell. For whatever reason I came on on the very last day of May (two weeks and 2 days late). See a doctor it could go anyway (may just be late or to soon to tell). GOOD LUCK!

I am not familiar with you, but the first question that came to my mind was. "have you had sex?" Just kidding of course, :chuckle Please don't find it offensive, you have been given some good advise her, call your physician, and keep us posted.

Definitely go to the doctor for a test. In the meantime, until you know for sure you are NOT pregnant, avoid alcohol and all the usual vices and take your vitamins!

I don't know if you're pregnant or not and I am certainly no doctor. What I can tell you is the exact same thing happened to me with my last baby. I got off the pill because the dosage was too strong. Took alternative birth control methods. Everything was normal until I missed a period. I took an over the counter test and it was negative. Called the doctor anyway because I never miss. Took a blood test and it came back negative. Got on meds to bring my period. Two weeks passed and still no period.
Another OTC test came up negative. Saw the dr for another blood test and exam and
found I was one week shy of four months pregnant. Call your doctor. Best wishes.

You can miss your period for numerous reasons besides being pregnant. Your hormones can be inbalanced from going off the pill. Stress can be a factor. Weight gain/ Weight loss...plus several other factors. I went for 11 months w/o a period before. It was due to severe stress. I now am the opposite can't stop for about 5 months straight now...gofigure:uhoh21: Best thing to be safe is to see your dr. like others have suggested and try not to worry in the meantime cause the stress of worrying can keep you from starting. Good Luck!

Please take the others' advice before me and see a doctor. Best wishes, whatever the outcome.

I was on the pill 8 years when I got pregnant. My first tests were also negative but now I have a wonderful 16 month old boy and an equally wonderful 4 month old boy!!! My second pregnancy the line was SOOO faint..I waited for a bit and took another test and that stick lit up like the 4th of July. I would go to the Dr. to be sure...

Make sure you're testing the first urine of the morning. I used a test that said it wasn't necessary and had a false negative test as a result. It took me another month to figure it out!
