Am I bad? I let the kids open one present today.

  1. I had too. I am trying to study this calculus, and they are off the walls. I'm tired of threats( to do what, I don't know, they really don't have anything to take away that's good) and I can't really spank them for playing too loudly now can I? So, I gave them the present that I knew would keep them quiet. I bought a V-tech learning game. I actually lay in the living room and took an hour nap with out a peep from them. They didn't even fight over it. I actually heard my daughter who is usually very bossy and stingy offer her brother a turn. I guess my talks about being nice to him have started to work. Ok, I know I asked if I was bad for letting them open it, but I really don't care:spin: :spin: it worked! :roll :roll :roll :roll

my hubby bugs the crap out of me every year to let him open "a" gift early...if I give in "a" turns into "another" and last year we had almost all our Christmas early.:roll I can't imagine what it will be like once we have children. This year he won't be home until around the 21st so perhaps I can hold off until the 25th. I don't think your bad. My parents would give in to us occassionally, but they would let us open the "crappy" gifts...like one year we each got umbrellas early...yippee.

We started a tradition as kids, of opening our "smallest" gift on Christmas Eve (we couldn't stand waiting till the morning!!)!

We usually had wrapped gifts from family under the tree, and then Santa brought unwrapped gifts and filled stockings on Christmas Eve, for Christmas Morning. Such anticipation and excitement!! Christmas truly is for kids, lol!

Not bad at all. We usually open a couple before Christmas and then open them all Christmas Eve, then Santa on Christmas morning. I saw a lady today in Walmart who was buying one DD a bike and the other a big playset. I couldn't get over that, lol! I do hide their gifts prior to wrapping.

Presents? All I got for Christmas was pointed questions over my performance in school and if warranted a few whacks upside the head for bad grades followed by a stern admonishment to "Go to your room! Study hard!: :chuckle

we used to open one gift on Christmas eve when I was a child, now we just kind of play it by ear....we usually let the kids have one gift. Kind of tickles them to do that...
    And CRNA...you did good!

If doing it let you sleep/study, then it was well worth it

    No harm in that.

LOL. I let my kids open a present yesterday also. They had come home from their grandma's and saw all the newly wrapped gifts under the tree. And they kept bugging me until I gave in!

I love that V Smile it keeps my kids busy for hours!

We did it that same way when I was growing up. Now, Santa wraps all the gifts but the ones that are too big to cover. Last year, we bought our son a computer and wrapped it in a comforter with a bow on it, lol....

    If it worked.... lol

Hope your calculus is going well. Did you decide to finish it, and not take the clep test?

Whatever works! :chuckle My children have been bugging me to let them open a present, too. So far, I've managed to put them off. If I get desparate, I know the presents can occupy them for a bit!

It worked, but you rewarded bad behavior. What happens when they are bored with this one and you still have 2 weeks to go? They are going to think "hmmmmmmmmm.......she gave in early, maybe we can break her again".

    Good luck.
