Airline tickets online?

  1. Hi, Has anyone purchased airline tickets online? How safe and reliable is it? I went to Priceline and they wanted credit card info and they would contact the airline for the price I quoted and then let me know. Maybe I'm out of it, but I just couldn't do it.

Have gotten airline tickets twice and hotel rooms
multiple times without trouble. You must be
careful about your plans though, you will loose
money if changed or cancelled most of the time.
Hope you are going some where fun!!

I agree with Shamrock. I've purchased tickets, car rentals and hotel rooms as great packages on line without a problem. My favorite travel site is cheaptickets.com. They publish their best bargain deals on Wednesday mornings so log on early! I've had good luck with Expedia.com, also. Good luck!

I've booked hotel rooms through several different popular on-line sites without a problem.

I have done multiple time for myself and my parents, airline ticket, car rentals, and hotels. I use : Orbitz & Expedia ! Some of the airlines allow me to pick my seats ahead of time!

Very Convenient, it allows for me to price comparison!

I generally go directly to the airline to purchase online. Expedia, CheapTickets and Orbitz usually cost a little more. I've been doing this for years & never had a problem.

I've used cheaptickets.com and had no problems. My uncle used priceline and the only thing he didn't like about it was that you can't choose your flight time. You pick the date and they get you the ticket at whatever time they have available. But other than that he didn't have any problems.

Yep, just purchased my ticket to Tucson online this week thru Expedia. They have a "call number" option where you can do everything online, then if you don't want to give your credit card info, you call the number (1-800) provided, then go back to the page and finish up. Was smooth and easy.

Also booked a flight to Milwaukee last year through Yahoo Travel... no problems whatsoever.

Shygirl, priceline.com is really just useful for available-space tickets/packages. (Think of it as overstocks.) You can quote a price, but you have to accept departure/return without about 24 hours of the days you specify. You give credit card information first because if they should find something available at the price you want to pay that is within those sketchy parameters, they will buy the ticket for you.

My friend has used them for vacations successfully... but they had to accept a flight to a resort that got them there at 1:00 the NEXT morning.

I've used expedia a few times, I think it's great. Do a search on a few services though, like cheapticket.com and orbitz.com... you may get the same ticket, for the flight you want, at a better price on one of them vs. the others.

I always buy my tickets on line but I never use those bargin sites. I can't stand the changing of planes, red eye flights and such. I book directly with the airline and get great rates.

I fly at least every other month and have been buying online for several years without a problem. I usually use Orbitz or go to NWA site. I've also used Travelocity but Orbitz usually has given me the best rates out of all of them.

The car rentals are almost a problem every time no matter where I book it...they never seem to be able to find the reservation.
