Ah Spring....And the crap begins!

  1. I was just sitting here in the office with the windows wide open...there's a beautiful breeze and sun is shining through the window. I looked out the window to admire the plants and flowers coming up in my yard and in the neighbors' yards. When I noticed a couple of cars were double parked in front of the house next to mine.

Now I wouldn't have noticed or even minded, except THERE ARE NO OTHER CARS parked anywhere on the whole street and they were practically parked in the middle of the road. So, I was watching these young men talking to each other hanging out of their windows. Then, one of them got out of the SUV and walked around to the driver's side of the other car. Then, they did the one hand switch. Yes, they were buying and selling drugs.

Now, this is somethig that has been going on for years. Our neighborhood is not a bad one. We have nice neighbors which span all ages. Everyone keeps their yards nice, except for the house down on the corner who we all know (including the police)is trafficing drugs. This activity has always bothered me, but this year it is really pissing me off! Maybe because the kids in the neighborhood are getting to the target age of these drug ppl. Maybe because the next door neighbor's/our friend's two year old is starting to talk and bravely walk away from his parents in the front yard. Maybe because since I'm engaged I have realized that this is where I am going to raise my kids. Maybe because I know the cops know and they haven't done much in all these years. Maybe because I'm just sick of letting this go on and on.

I don't know what to do though. All I know is that I want it to stop.
Thanks for letting me rant. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

I hate this for you, Fly.

Same thing happened in "nowhere'sville" up the road a bit several years ago. DH (waaaaaaaay smarter than I) watched the cops for over a year. He was more upset with tehm, than with the kids selling/buying. The cops had their own "communication system" going. Some ppl they just let off.. let them do their thing.. for (what else) their fair share of the pie. When a garter was hanging from the rearview mirror in the front windshield, the kids had nothing to fear.. green lite to go about their business.

    Pretty sickening, eh?

Why not set up a video camera, nothing like getting busted on film and we could watch it on one of those reality shows.

I haven't seen any shady activiy from police except for not really patrolling the area since they "know."

The office windows are perfectly set up for video taping these activities.
    Hmmmmmmm.....

I was thinking the same thing! Also, everytime you see this going on, call the police, and document the time, day, and description of the cars. (Liscense plate number too if you can get it) Have the neighbors do it as well. Send a clear message to both the police and the drug dealers that it won't be tolerated.

Be careful b/c if the cops are tied into it, the dealers may soon know who is taping/turning them in!

    Good luck!

Had a similar experience on my street. I had been away for 4-5 years. Returned home and there was 3 houses of dealers. 2 of the houses were related to each other. Big bad-ass dogs chained to the front of the houses and trees, etc. Rap music blaring day & night, dogs barking, "traffic" in & out, thugs standing in the yard and on porches with their cell phones,.... I discussed it with my neighbors who were "scared " of them....they were some smart-mouthed, smart-assed characters.
I said ...""to Hades with this, I'm getting my neighborhood/street back.""
I went to the police station and informed them of what was going on,,,,,didn't ask if they already knew. Told them I was writing down EVERY liscense plate #, every car description, every driver description, and that I would be back EVERY DAY with my list.
Wrote how long each car was in the driveways/street.

Informed the police I would be sending copies to the appropriate state offices, governor, attorney general, state police, DEA, etc.

In the meantime, I called the animal control people and registered complaints and they came out and investigated them every week.
I also called the county health department and reported them for open garbage containers, filthy and "smelly" yard....anything I could think of; didn't matter to me if the yard smelled or not, I reported that it did....""smelled like a broken toilet "" I said...

I called the cops for the dogs barking at night....wrote down number of car that responded...
I called the cops for ""Too loud of music "" after 10 p.m. They came out & told the hoodlums to turn it down......"or else"..

I also stood in the street & took pictures of the cars going in and out... 1/2 the time, didn't even have film in the camera...LOL

Went to the police station at least 3 times a week with "list and pictures"", wrote to police chief and mayor and included state officials names who were receiving the same info...

The druggies...cursed me and shot me the bird............. LOL.

Within 6 weeks, all 3 houses were vacant.
Moral of story: You have to draw the line and say "I will not live like this. "
You can't allow these jerks to intimidate you.

Luckily these ppl aren't that bad or loud. Its more of an annoyance. I was thinking of begining a neighborhood watch.
But this is NY and ppl tend not to get involved in things...you know, the "keep walking" attitude.

We'll see, and I'll keep you up to date.

I wonder if the "stuff" is any good. (just kidding)
If it were me I'd go out there in front of their vehicles and videotape them.
When you see them go out there in the street and turn on the camera. They will still deal their dope but not in front of your house.
I also am not shy to go out there packing my sidearm for all to see. It kind of lets them know I'm not messin' around.
