Aftermath

  1. Okay, Christmas was great this year, but now we all have to deal with the aftermath of the day. I cleaned up enough wrapping paper, bows and gift boxes to make a bonfire. I am finally finished with all of the leftovers, and I haven't stepped on a block or a Barbie shoe yet today, so I guess all of the toys have been picked up now. My grandson got a fire truck that has a siren, makes an engine sound, and sings a song. I can't wait for the batteries to run out on that thing. But the worst aftermath comes from a very simple toy. Someone bought the girls fairy princess dress up outfits. They have wands that are covered with glitter that was glued on very poorly. There is glitter EVERYWHERE. It's all over the carpet, the furniture, in everyone's hair, even on the dog. There is even glitter floating in the toilet. My house is the sparkliest in the neighborhood.

I still have some dishes left to do, haven't cut up the ham yet, leftovers are Saran-Wrapped in the fridge, and my table still has the tablecloth on it. I just have no ambition.....

OMG you mean yall have been able to move from the table. It took me almost an hour to roll my husband off the table and down the hall I guess he will sleep there until the food digests. The tradition in my home is : everything has to be taken down by the first of the year or its bad luck, so what if the cat is hanging out of the cavity of the turkey its her christmas too. All kidding aside, Im sure my husbands office staff will enjoy the left overs, after the way we gorged ourselves at the house I cant bare to eat another bite of something sweet, has stuffing envolved and is in need of gravy. Its to the office it goes. I packed it up christmas night, after rolling my husband down the hall like the umpa lumpa people on willy wonkas chocolate factory and the blueberry girl. Its all ready to go to work, and back to slim fast and yogart until the next feasting holiday arrives or my scrubs wont fit!

I lucked out - after Emma got through unwrapping everything, the garbage men were here an hour later. PERFECT TIMING!!

I'm taking down the tree and all the inside decorations this weekend. Emma is going to clean out her playroom and toy chest to get toys she doesn't play with anymore ready to take to the Children's shelter.

Anyone have toys that go on by themselves? There is a tugboat and some other electronic do dad received this Christmas that seem to go on spontaneously every once in awhile. Scared the heck out of me...Thought I was having auditory hallucinations. You are so far ahead of me in clean up! I'm jealous!

YES!!! Emma has a Barbie car that drives itself and backs up by itself. FREAKY!! We took the batteries out of it because it did it late one night and I almost wet the bed.

Yes! The toys scare me when it's real quiet and I'm watching tv and then one will start playing music in the toybox :chuckle My aunt (who doesn't have kids!) feels it's her duty to buy all the children NOISY toys

The house looks like a bomb-because of the holiday garbage day is tomorrow instead of today so there it all sits.

I wish I could get organized, my living room and dining room is just filled with gifts, wrappings, etc.. I would leave the tree up until the last needle fell off but it is a fire hazzard so when the football game starts on sunday I will tackle that chore. Isn't it funny how the kids can't wait for the decorations to go up but no one wants to help put them away! I will be Mother Sargent on Sunday and deligate the chores. I can't look at another Turkey until next Thanksgiving, we ordered Pizza last night. The dogs however are enjoying the leftovers.

All kinds of stuff to do around here, but I have no motivation to do it......catching up on the sleep I missed xmas eve and xmas, lol. Actually my two children are home with me for four days and I am just hanging with them......letting them eat what they want and play what they want.....we are having fun. I'll worry about clean up next week when my youngest goes to daycare.....

My husband works nights. When he was off Christmas night he could not sleep, so the next morning when I woke up the tree was down along with all the inside decorations. I thought that was a great "Santa" gift for me.

RNinICU, I feel for you. I just hate to let glitter loose in my house. It is worse than having a sand box. A little glitter goes a very long way with me. Hate the stuff.

Ok, I'll fess-up. Eventhough I have taken a shower yesterday and today I just changed into my clean p.j.'s or sweats... I don't think I've worn shoes since Wednesday! My kids haven't that's for sure.
I specifically asked my family for clothes for the kids this year... no one listened. I don't think I can wait for the batteries to die though...
This is some of what came this year. A spaceship type of toy with all the shooting noises for the 4 year old, some type of ball game for the baby with the most anoying music, and to top it all off my daughter got a karaoke machine... which would be cute if she didn't record everything including my yelling at her to stop recording everything! Ahh, mabey tonight when they are sleeping the mysterious battery theif will come along...

I have some empty bags and boxes around....I love seeing the tree but once Christmas is over I'm ready to take it down. Unfortunately I have to work all weekend and then have company coming for new years day, and the kids want us to leave it up for them....I haven't decided, I may take it down new years eve.
