Academy Awards Announced

I was very happy to see the newcomer star of Maria Full of Grace nominated. She was hauntingly beautiful in this part. Kate Winslet was excellent in Eternal Sunshine.........but I haven't seen the rest. They say Hillary Swank is the front runner.

Jamie Foxx has two award nominations, one for best supporting actor and one for actor. He's so far out in the front to win for Ray, there will probably be riots in the street if he looses.

I am very pleased for Jamie Foxx, Morgan Freeman, and Don Cheadle. I think they all deserve to win.

Sharon, I agere. I've always liked Morgan Freeman, has he ever won? I know he lost the Driving Miss Daisy oscar nom. Don Cheadle is up against Jamie Foxx, so I doubt he'll win, but am happy for him to get the exposure, because he's always been a fine actor. I can't wait to see that movie.

I LOVE Morgan Freeman! I don't think he has ever won an academy award. He was robbed in Driving Miss Daisy and Shawshank Redemption. He should have won for both. Hopefully this is his year.

GO the Aussies! Hoping "our" Cate Blanchett takes out the gong for best actress. :hatparty:

I remember Morgan from his "Electric Co." days.
    Hope he gets the Oscar.

Has anyone ehard the Soundtrack to that movie?

    Simply incredible.

I can still remember two dialogues from that movie:

One where Freeman talks about "Hope being a dangerous thing"

and the other - towards the end of the movie, when he again speaks of hope (this time in a more pleasant term).

Always reminds me of Weetziebat's signature

Nicole Kidman won, so you've had a winner recently. However, Cate is one of the finest actresses in the world today. I thought she was brilliant in "Elizabeth" and should have won then.
