A stupid camera question-If I use a digital camera, can I still

  1. take the thingy to Walmart to have the pictures developed? Or do they have to be done on the computer? I need to know, cause I am buying a new camera this week.... 35mm or digital...
I was going to go for digital....but, I don't have a scanner or printer.... And, I received many pictures via computer, and lost ALL of them the last time I traded up on AOL from 7.0 to 8.0.
And, the AOL people simply said, they didn't know how to fix it, maybe I could get my history and photo's back if I took my puter to a repair shop.
So, I am not impressed with keeping pics in my computer.
I want paper pictures I can hold in my hands...
But digital sounds good, so, can I take the digital thingy to Walmart and still get pictures?
    From,
    technologically impaired.....

You can upload the pictures to your computer, then put them on a disk and bring the disk in to get your pictures on paper. You can also send your pics in by email to online companies who will send you the developed photos by mail.

Another reason why you always need to back up your files to a CD or floppy.
And never save your pictures in AOL, always click on the picture and save it to your computer and back it up , if you really want to keep it.

I see someplace (sorry can't remember where) you can bring in the memory card and get your pics printed that way. I personally love my digital, because sometimes I just want a pic to email to some one, not to necessarily print of. And they take great pics.

Good luck in what you choose!

Take a look at www.ofoto.com - you can send your digitial pics to them and they will mail you prints. It's very easy, very quick and they're always having specials.

All the Wal-Marts in my area have these now, pictures are ready in an hour from one machine, or immediately from the Kodak picture kiosk thingy (I think; it's been awhile since I used that one). You can print from any camera's memory card, from floppy disk or CD. Lots of other stores are installing those Kodak "picture maker" machines now- they seem to be mostly popping up in the drug stores that have 1-hr photo labs. The quality from the Kodak machines was good, but I found the quality from the other-brand machine at Wal-Mart to be exceptional. In fact I preferred the Wal-Mart machine over any of the online ordering systems (Ofoto, Snapfish, Shutterbug, etc) and used it a LOT until I bought an at-home photo printer. I do a lot of outdoor photography and scrapbooking, and have only ever owned digital cameras. (well, not only ever, I had a $10 35mm once :chuckle )

Go to http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catal...&path=0%3A5426. You can upload from your computer and order your prints from home.
