A sad day for history buffs

  1. I was channel surfing and stopped on CNN's BookTV channel to watch an interview with Stephen Ambrose. I've been a Stephen Ambrose fan for several years and thoroughly enjoyed the interview. It was done in late May of 1994, just prior to the 50th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France. It was rebroadcast today because Dr. (PhD) Ambrose passed away this morning, at the age of 66, from lung CA.

He established the National D-Day Museum outside of New Orleans, LA, and was involved in many projects throughout the US to keep the interest in history alive. He will be missed. My ramblings can't do justice to the man, but thanks for listening (reading).

For those interested in military history and the D-Day Museum, here is a link to the site.

Very sad indeed. Great book, Band of Brothers, written by him.
