a little ranting

  1. I'm not exactly sure why I am posting this, I really just need to whine just a little bit and this seems like a good place to whine and feel sorry for myself if just for a few minutes.

I have hinted around in previous threads about the fact that I shoot archery as a hobby. In fact I shoot competetively. It's normally a lot a fun and I really enjoy it, until today.

I shot in a tournanment today called a TRICounty. I was competing against people from 3 different counties. Last week we had a qualifying shoot and I shot near the top of my Class ( they divide us into different classes based on our score. It makes it more fair because we are often competing against pros, so that gives us regular guys a chance to win. So even if I have a lower score, I can win my class as long as I have the highest score in my class.) It's a little confusing I know. What's really important is that I qualified at the higest end of my class (3 points away from moving up classes). I actually had a chance to win this tournament in my class, but I blew it. Call it nerves, equipment failure, I don't know, but my score was 41 points lower than my qualifying score. 41 POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was shooting so bad that I actually completely missed the target on 2 seperate occasions. This actually has the potential to cause such a mental block that I will have difficutly shooting in any other tournaments. I know that I am probably putting too much pressure on myself.

I was so distraught that I came home and ate an entire bag of microwave Kennel Corn

Thanks for listening to me rant!

You were a little off focused at the time, maybe some focusing techniques to help you out. I just took my son to a seminar on this very subject, although it was geared more for basketball, you could use some of the same techniques.

PM me if you are interested in this, I can't think of his name right now, he was in Ohio a few weeks ago. He's helped a lot of very successful ppl.
