Awwwwwwwww, it's only open to Australian and New Zealand residents!! Too bad, I had my 25 words ready, and my finger poised on "enter!"

I would LOVE to go on a dig sometime . . . maybe once the kids are on their own. . .

Good luck to you, gwenith, I hope you win!!!!

I would love to go on a dig to Egypt, South America, etc.

I did go on a dig once...................

but it was at a Childrens Museum in Indianapolis. It was really sand with items placed in the sand and you had tools to use to get the items.

BTW, that is the bestest children's museum I've ever seen. It's awesome!

I'm looking for the link....there are some digs you can volunteer for in the US.....have always wanted to do it!! If I remember correctly...haha...they are in the West....I took a couple of undergrad courses in anthro/archeology....and the professor was always talking about volunteer opportunities to get "your hands dirty"...

rninme, after reading your post i did a search and came up with the following links (not all are archeologically-based):

travel with a challenge - links directory. archaeology and more

dig up the past: an archeological volunteer vacation

asor outreach links--dig opportunities mainly in the middle east

near sedona in arizona: do good and have fun on a dig - volunteer archaeology work - includes related information on other archaeology sites - brief article sunset - find articles article from 2001 with several suggestions at the end of the article

these are only four from the over-a-million sites that popped up with the search words "volunteer dig." i'm sure if we changed the search words we could narrow it down a bit, lol!
