A good older movie

  1. I'm watching/listening to a movie on TMC "Sister Kenny" Australian nurse who became famous for her treament of polio. Anyone heard of her? I think her real name was Elizabeth Kenny.

The part is played by Rosalind Russell, made in 1945. I love the b/w movies.

She called herself a Bush Nurse. I feel kind of cheated that I didn't learn about her in nursing school. Anyway it was a good movie.

    Let me know TeleNurse_02.

Seems like I should have heard of her at one time or another. She was very couragous, stood up to the Docs that didn't believe her.

I don't ever remember hearing of her during Nursing History. It's good to see you posting more in OT again!

Interesting. I'll have to keep my eye out for that. I see it was based on her autobiography. Doubt we will have it in our little library.

Sad to tell she was not accepted by the nursing fraternity and many of her innovations actually became the basis of the physiotherapy profession. I have been to Nobby and seen the memorial for her that they have built out there. I will see if I can get more information and paste it.
