A friend told me about the GENERAL MOTORS DIET. Check it out on the net....

  1. It is tried and tested. I am on day # 1 today. Will let y'all know if it does what they say it does.

    To me, the General Motors diet is eating less food, to save more money, to use as a down payment for a newer car.

    Sounds like a starvation diet. Good way to loose some quick weight I suppose. But I'm certainly not good at stravation and all those high glycemic carbs would make me more hungry.

    Let us know how it goes and how much weight you loose.

    No, it's not a joke.... I'm on day 2.
    boring... not a starvation diet, it says you can eat all the prescribed foods you want, it says you can eat til you are stuffed.

    I lost 4 # on day one and didn't even exercise///

    don't know how much was water weight and how much is fat loss....

    today is vegetable day, boring...............,

    plan to walk on my treadmill for 30 minutes this p.m. (my idea of a lot of exercising.

    this obviously isn't a "change of lifestyle diet'"................
    simply a diet to knock off a few pounds quickly,

    then, I plan to return to my healthy lifestyle.............

    hope I can stick with it....

    it occurred to me this morning, no bread or eggs or cereal or milk !!!!!!!!!!!

    duh !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    But, I'll do it for a week to see what happens.

    I've never been on one of these kind of diets before........

    If I lose 3-4 #'s today,

    Lawdy, ................... I'll be in hawg heaven by New Year's.....

    I'll probably celebrate with some chitlin cornbread and blackeyed peas and

    a coupla ham hocks................. ttyl

    you can't do this and then go back to your old ways and not expect to regain at least what you lost (and maybe more).

    Quick fixes don't work, they only last as long as the time you put into it. I've been doing low fat since Sept 10 and have lost 27 pounds averaging about 2 pounds a week. I've lost an entire shirt and pants size. Having dieted before such as lo carb and losing the same amt of weight only much quicker I never did see the huge difference in my clothes that I do now. Just my thoughts for what it's worth. I didn't see any details of the GM diet. Was there a link somewhere? Is this really some type of joke?

    Here's a link to the diet. Definitely something you wouldn't want to have to stay on long-term. I'm no nutritionist, so I can't comment on that part of it, but the foods sound healthy, though maybe not nutritionally balanced. Over the course of the week, it looks like you get all the major food groups, though.

    This is what used to be called the cabbage soup diet. My Mom lost over 100 lbs on this diet in the '80s- and she did keep the weight off. Doctors used to recommend it pre-op for obese patients as well.
