    90-year-old wins $16 million lottery
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP)-Luis Salazar has seen a lot in his 90 years. But he's never seen $16 million. Until Tuesday.

Luis Salazar says he may use his winnings to take a trip back to his boyhood home in Puerto Rico.
    By Bruce Brewer, AP

The Osceola County man, believed to be the oldest person ever to win the lottery in Florida, came to Tallahassee to collect his prize. Salazar chose a lump sum of $10,089,377.57 over 30 annual payments of $533,333.

He plans to give some to his church in Kissimmee and spend the money on his grandchildren and other family members.

He said he might do a little traveling too-back to where he grew up.

"I have to go back to Puerto Rico," he said Tuesday at Lottery Headquarters.

Salazar moved to Osceola County 14 years ago after retiring from a Puerto Rico cement-distribution company, where he worked as a purchasing agent.

Then he went to work at Winn-Dixie in Buenaventura Lakes as a bagger, retiring at age 87. It was the same store where he bought his winning ticket last week.

Seriously, isn't this the kinda person you like to see win?
STILL working at age 87 !! Worked hard his entire life,
    I'm sure.

Everyone whines nowadays about having to work when they are over 55, or over 60. I see lots of old men & women out there still working.

I hope his family members take him home for a great celebration and nostalgic tour.

I once worked with a nurse from Jamaica. We were talking about what we would do if we won the lottery, which was about 60 million. He said he would go home, he said, "I'd be the richest man in the country, I could be president !!"
I always thought that was funny.

An 87 year old - - still working - - awesome to think about, isn't it?
I'm so used to the 20 somethings and 30 somethings showing up at the ER with all their "freebie i.d. cards." And complaining that we aren't giving them "MORE."

Yep..it is pretty neat that he was still working at 87! There was something on 60 Mins or 20/20 a while back on how many over 65 year olds are still working. Such an interesting story about this company in Pennsylvania....the media age of the workers were 85 years old!!! I believe the oldest was 90 something & the youngest was late 70's!! The man that owned the company stated that these "older" workers are more reliable, responsible, etc... Apparently someone filed a suit again the owner of the company saying he was bias since he primarily hired only "older" people!

The only differences that the owner said was a few of the employees were uncertain/leary of the fax machine & a couple employees refused to use the microwave! Heehee! However, the secretary who always typed on a typewriter...was at first scared of the computer that her employer recently bought...but since she had lessons.......well...she stated she just LOVES her computer & all that it can do!!

Wonderful story...wish they would air it again!

When it comes to computers I have a hard time keeping up with my 75 year old father! He has recently started a computer club for retired people. Goes to show that you really are as old as you feel.
