10 Great Things About America

  1. One of my friends sent me the link to this article. I thought it would interesting to share here. It is a commentary, and it's long, so I'll just post the link for those who would like to read it. It seems relevant to many of the more active threads here in current events.

That was a balanced and well thought out article.

Sometimes seeing things from an "outsider's" point of view is eye opening. Just a small example. I live in Northern California in the mountains surrounded by Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta. There are hundreds of outdoor things to do here and it usually takes a visitor to my home to remind me of that. Then, off we go to hike Burney Falls or travel through Subway Caves and walk to the top of Mt. Lassen and then walk over Bumpass Hell. There is beauty all around . .ya just have to look.

I need to copy this and give it to our ward clerk. She is a young woman who has a baby with a guy who is in prison for drug related stuff. She is a firm believer that our country is an evil place to raise children and as soon as she gets her degree in Sociology from Humboldt State, she is moving out of the country.

I'm hopeful that during college she will grow up a bit. Her knowledge of history and what our constitution says is lacking. When she starts "pontificating" at work, even our more liberal staff cringe.

And this is one sad example of our education system at work. She has no idea what the constitution is about. She has no idea about the sacrifices that have been made to keep our country free.

Thanks for reminding me . . . copying it now.
