We've done the fanbelt thing too. I've used them to strain sludge from lamp oil for my kerosene lamp.

I've done a hasty repair on a pair of pants that had lost elasticity in the waistband. (0430 am trying to get ready for work) The elastic always lasts longer than the leg part.

We used to put a bar of soap in the foot part and hang it while camping, it's very handy, right by the spiggot. Yes, I was a brownie.

I am with Deb, try to avoid them as much as possible*shudder*

I also had a military use. I would wear them under my cammies during force marches to keep from developing blisters on my feet (I wore a pair of military cotton socks over the hose). It worked really well, so even my husband started doing it.

I knew someone who would use pantyhose to hold and icebag on his head -- ice bag held between knots in the top of the legs and a knot in the waist band, and held on by tying the legs in a bow under his chin.

Always regretted not getting a picture when I had the chance...

I'm impressed with some of the different uses of pany hose you all listed here! :chuckle

I've never used a panty hose other than to:

    1) wear it myself (long story for another thread)

    or

    2) take off my loving wife!

As kids we would take a wire coat hanger, shape it in a circle and then stretch panty hose over it and used it as a net to catch crawdads and minnows. Sounds like cheap fun and something to do with my kids now.

Off topic but on the same track...

When I actually do laundry, the used dryer sheets make great one time dust cloths. Way better than swiffers.
