"Kill Bill" Has anyone else viewed it?

  1. Ok, Here's the deal, I don't usually watch movies like this, that is neither good nor bad, put I love a variety of movies, for example, "Rabbit Proof Fence", Shawshank Redemption, Hope Floats, Somethings Gotta Give, get it variety, so when a friend suggested Kill Bill, I said, "what the heck".

I tell ya what, I was awake on and off thru the night, there is a scene in the movie that really disturbed my psyche. (sp?) This girl in a coma (or supposedly in a coma, she wasn't at that particular time) anyway, staff has a conversation with a man about to have sex with the comatose patient even offers him lubrication, describes her dryness , EWWWWWW, that was enough, disturbed me to the point , I am not sure I have been disturbed before. As a woman disturbed, as a healthcare provider major disturbed and concerned for the message it gives the major population.

Anyone else see it? Just needed to say EWWWWW! Why does entertainment have to go there?

This movie, I understand is very highly rated, anyone know if this is true?

I LOVED volume 1, haven't seen vol 2 yet. Quentin is genius. Especially Darryl Hannah as an evil nurse with eyepatch whistling that freaky song at the start of the movie.

I had a conversation about this over lunch and a friend mentioned the director and Pulp Fiction, which I have never seen. May watch that, they also mentioned his genius-ness regarding his style.

Yeah I did note that was Darryl Hannah, I wasn't sure at first, she did something different with her voice, of course went along with part. One thing I did notice about this particular movie, he did great things with sound.
One friend at lunch did say that when they got to the scene I mentioned in the first thread, he turned the DVD off. So I guess, it wasn't just me.

I saw the firstand second one on opening days, and thought they were great. For as bizarre as some of Tarentinos movies are, they all are good flicks. The second one tells more of a story then the first, but either way, they both were awesome.

i loved it as well - if you don't like gore - foul language or obscenity - you should never watch a tarantino movie in the first place....as for that scene disturbing you - such things HAVE actually happened - THAT is more disturbing to me than a movie scene.

I think that is why the scene struck me that way, the person I was watching it with said, "what the h***, those things don't really happen do they?", you know your visual mind can be very powerful, and there was no visual act, but my mind went there and once again, as a caregiver, I just didn't like what it created inside of me. I'll get over it really, live and learn.

The one song got stuck in my head..."Bang. Bang! He shot me down. Bang! Bang!..."

My husband would say "Will you stop singing that!".

We rented volume 1 the other night, and I have to say, I thought it was pretty dumb. However, my husband and I eventually got the giggles over all the blood spurting out of severed limbs, and now it is a running joke. :chuckle

The part with the hospital workers and her in a coma was pretty disturbing, but, hey, those fellas got THIER payback! No spurting though, I don't think....darn.

P.S. Darryl Hannah with the "nurse" eyepatch was also pretty humerous.

Kill Bill 1 & 2 are awesome movies. I met alot of people that didn't like it but I say, you need to have an appreciation for old-school kung-fu movies. The coolest part of the movie was Sonny Chiba. As for that EWWWWWW scene, that was a bit disturbing but in the words of the famous ATHOMAS91, "such things HAVE actually happened - THAT is more disturbing to me than a movie scene."

Rats!.....I guess I'm the only one that thought it s****d. All the other Quinten movies I loved! Not this one. Maybe the second one is better.

We bought it the other day. The story about a woman who deserved and obtained her revenge. Uma Thurman did a great job and QT once again put together a fine film.
Now I have to buy "Resorvoir Dogs" It's the only QT film I haven't seen.
