"Going" in public?

  1. Today I was coming out of the pediatricians office with my son and as I was walking to my car I heard a sound like water running. (See where this is going?) As I came closer to the sound, I looked to see what it was, and in between two cars a kid of about 7 or 8 years old was peeing, with his mom standing on the other side of the car waiting for him.

The kid never looked up and saw me, he was pretty enthralled with the patterns he was making, but the mom looked at me, smiled, and shrugged her shoulders. I just shook my head and kept moving. All I could think was how nasty that was, imagine someone parking there next and stepping out into a puddle, then tracking it everywhere they walk. And the doctors office was less than 25 feet away, why couldn't she take the kid in there, which is where I saw her heading as I drove away.

I have a friend who has two boys, and she has said that she lets them go whenever they feel the urge. My mother in law also said she used to do that with my hubby when he was a kid. I have always taught my boys to use a bathroom because I think it is SO unsanitary to just go where ever. I know my sig line says never pass up the opportunity, but I would hope that the proper facilities are used!

Opinions on this? Moms to boys? Anyone?

That is nasty. And completely uncivilized.

It's one thing to pull over on a long stretch of highway and run into the bushes, but in an urban area where there are stores, offices and business around who would almost certainly let a child who asked nicely use even a non-public restroom? Gross.

And BTW, isn't public urination illegal in most cities?

One Sunday, the mom of Jay's youngest had come to pick him up. I heard that familiar sound, turned around and he was whizzing from the steps into the back yard. I firmly informed him that we do not do that here, esp. when there is a working bathroom inside. Jay backed me up, but Crackchild and her new husband let him pi$$ outside all the time..(no, she's not really a crackhead, just acts it sometimes...) I informed her they can let him do it if they want, but he is NOT to do that while at our home.

will add: when we are out and about, when the pottypanic sets in, we have been known to pull over if in the country and let him piddle on the roadside.

When my son was 4 I caught him peeing in the front yard for all the world to see...we fixed THAT problem right then and there....the only time it's appropriate to pee outside is when we are backpacking...geesh....whats wrong with people?

??? I would hope so! But I am in the backwoods here, so who knows what the good ole boys think of it. It might be the norm!

(Before anyone gets offended, the above commets are meant in jest!)

When we lived in the country with my inlaws all the guys in the house peed outside. It became a problem though, when my son, then four years old, went to visit some cousins in St. Louis and peed in her front yard for all the world to see!!!

I found my kiddo peeing in the backyard (in town) before, but I guess that's really not public. If there's a bathroom around, he goes there, but if not, then we find a secluded place and go.

Yea, that's gross. They had a Seinfeld Episode where they were lost in the mall parking lot and Jerry got "taken in" bceause the police caught him peeing behind a car.... I think people should always use a toilet. I always see guys doing it anywhere when the need to go. It's not like girls can whip them out an pee whenever they want to (not like I would if I could and not that all guys do, I just see more guys than girls doing it) BTW, where do you get all your weird pictures heather? I think you enjoy finding a picture for each thread. :chuckle (I just saw the feet one before this)
