The search for the perfect mascara...

  1. ...is OVER!

MAC Studio Fix Lash is the BEST mascara I've ever used. It makes my lashes longer than any mascara I've ever used. It makes them thick but not clumpy. IT DOESN'T RUN OR FLAKE ALL OVER MY FACE! And while I haven't yet had a good cry while wearing it, if my eyes do tear up (which they do when I'm at the computer a lot) it doesn't seem to run or drip like anything else.

I have tried cheap mascaras (Maybelline and Cover Girl), expensive mascaras (DiorShow), waterproof mascaras (MAC and others) and finally, FINALLY I think I have found my holy grail mascara.

There's another new MAC mascara, Opulash, but it doesn't seem to be as good for me as Studio Fix Lash. Black. I also use Prep and Prime Lash as a base.

The nicest thing about MAC is that when you have six empties (lipsticks, compacts, tubes, whatever) you can turn them in and get free lipsticks. I haven't had to buy a lipstick in ages. I LOVE MAC!!!

    Moogie,

Where do you get it? I've never seen it, but I don't shop for mascara. I use Lancome and order it from Amazon. I'm always open to something new.

ETA: I clicked "What's New" and it takes me to that page, where there is a Lancome advertisement. Marketing, hehehe.

I don't like thick lashes . . .I just want each individual lash colored with NO clumps.

I usually use Clinique, black/brown and NOT NOT NOT waterproof!!

That stuff just won't come off!

I love the new Revlon, I think. double lash or some such thing. You do a primer coat, for lack of a better description, and then the other side has the color with its own mascara brush.

it comes off easily with water.

I'm 70 miles from the mall and the Clinique counter so I did the drugstore thing and read and read along the "wall of makeup" - I wanted a mascara that doesn't look thick or clumpy. I ended up buying Maybelline "Define-A-Lash" but didn't realize it was waterproof.

It didn't work well - defining a lash. Plus it was a bear getting off even with make-up remover.

So, I went back and bought Covergirl "lashexact". Not waterproof. It actually works to define each lash and not clump them up together.

I long for my Clinique though.

The brush is small but applies that mascara right to the root.

I'm allergic to Lancome so when I find a brand I can wear, I stay with it forever.

I have to be careful too - my eyes can turn very red with the wrong stuff.

Does anyone make a clear mascara these days?

I am very fair, with dark eyes and hair. Black mascara, even in tiny amounts, makes me look like a vampire, and the colored ones just don't look right, either.

I used to wear clear mascara just to define my lashes, and liked the look, but working in school this year, I pretty much got away from wearing eye make-up. Now I can't find any at the drug store. (Department store make-up is not in my budget right now).

    Does Neutrogena still make one?

For a lower-end mascara (which is all I ever buy---I'm allergic to paying more than $12.50 for mascara), I'm loving "Stilettos" in Very Black by Maybelline (I think). It gives me crazy length and DOESN'T clump or make lashes look like spider legs. The brushes also come in several different designs---there's one that curls lashes, another that creates volume as well as length, still another that separates and defines each lash. The stuff runs about $10 in Walgreens and Target.
