Knitting Anyone?

  1. 0 I have finally figured out knit and purl I belong to a lovely knitting group and I've discovered I'm a visual/hands on kind of learner. Books are great, but actually seeing it is better.

I am now ready to attempt to actually knit something for my baby daughter. Mom thinks knits are only for cold weather...boy is she wrong. What's wrong with a nice light sweater or hat? Not winter weight imo right?

    What's everyone else knitting/crochetting/spinning/sewing?

Haven't had the time to knit sew or anything else I like doing since I started work again. I did have plans on knitting a Aran sweater for winter, bought the wool and needles etc just no time to do it, looks like it will be this years project

The version of it I have is a knifty knitter. It's a "knittting" loom. You wrap the yarn around posts and then lift off certain loops with a hook. Not as wrist intensive as actual knitting, but I did make a nice hat in garter stich using a round loom. I made a scarf on a rectangle loom though the wrapping on it is more like a figure eight. Good thing about the looms are if your wrists do end up bothering you, you can put the whole thing down and not accidentally drop a stitch or a needle. From what I've felt when using them, they reaaly don't seem to bother my wrists or hands as much and I don't have carpel tunnel. I knit with needles for awhile and my hands and wrists hurt (probably from holding everything too tight as I'm still learning )

    Here are some sites:
    Provo Craft

YouTube - knifty knitter a video on using one of the looms

Authentic Knitting board - Adjustable Knitting Boards, patterns, dvds, rug yarn and videos The original knitting board.

    Hope this helps.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm a mad sock knitter I've got two pairs on the needles right now.

Me too! I've got two pairs going for myself, but they're on hold while I finish up Christmas presents. I'm making socks for my 14 month old niece. Talk about addicting--they go so quickly she may end up with 10 pair.

Has everyone finished their socks? I have been way to busy with work/studying, but I'm going to finish a pr that I have had on needles for 2 yrs!
