- 4Oct 9, '13 by Sabby_NC, BSN, RNGood Morning one and all,
Up bright and early and getting ready to jump in the shower, my preceptee will be here first thing so we can head off to my furthest patient from the office and work our way back from there.
Great day yesterday, got the visits done and some office work before heading off for said squishogram, then back to the office for a meeting on billing. Very productive day even though I took time out to go to the hospital.
Gosh it is chilly out there this morning I actually put the gas heater on to give us a little warmth this morning, let the dogs out but brrrrr I soon came back in and so did they. LOL
Hope you all have a most excellent and productive day no matter what you get up to.
Much love to you all this day, hugs and prayers go out to AKY.
See you on the flip side. Hoo Roo

Back to work today. Going to take Friday off which I think will help a lot, given the workload recently. Hopefully no unexpected surprises today.
Have to talk with the manager about why I got so much work at the end of yesterday, was it a fluke or is it a sign of things to come? So hard to figure out what is going on at this place...
Planning to do the laundry tonight, and get my shopping list in order so I can do that tomorrow. Didn't do much yesterday, just the exercise bike and some more cleaning.
And I have to figure out what I'm going to do during my day off. My dad is out of town so I'll have the whole weekend free too.

Yesterday I went to a bkft, for Family Promise. My son had invited me and he made a big deal to all at our table that I was there. He did not introduce me as his mother, just said I was the most important guest. When I was questioned as to how I knew him I could smile and acknowledge that I gave birth to him and knew him before all of them. He then got to tell the story of how I got him, well all his family involved in Family Promise. I drove people from FP center to our church when it was our week to house homeless families. He and the rest of his family got involved coming to hang out, help with homework and support the families. My DGS interviewed a family for a school unit on homelessness. His class created a basket for the silent auction to raise money for FP. My DS was placed in charge of what used to be called United Way at work. Together he and a few others got the institution to commit to FP as a special project. They painted the entire FP center and made a large cash donation to FP. My son loves to tell this story, and so do I. So from his POV I was the most influential guest. I may have mentioned his Christmas present to me yearly is donation in my name for days of stay for families in need.
SO had a bad morning. Well, nothing horrible just not as alert. I have hopes that today will be better. I did go to the office and paid a couple of bills. I need to hit the office again so I can pay some more and figure out what is going on. We may have a new lawyer moving in soon and I have to be sure everything is ready for him.
So, back to the hospital in time for daily report and then I may go to the office for a couple of hours sometime during the day.
Thank all of you for your prayers and caring. Keep 'em coming. God may not need the reminder but it seems SO is a bit hard of hearing about getting better. I do feel your hugs and they keep me going.

I forgot to let my puppy out one last time before bed, and I was reminded of that at 0300 by her crying with her little legs crossed. Then the emergency continued when she showed me empty food and water bowls. I guess I was falling down on the job!!
I'm working today and have my emergency drivers class tonight. I'm due for a busy day since the last few shifts have been "Q." I'd actually rather be busy since it makes the shift go so much faster. We'll see what the EMS gods bring us today!!
AKY- I have my fingers crossed that today is the day for your SO!!!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day!!

Tonight I return to work after being away for a little more than 2 weeks. I'm trying to remember what it is that I do. It has something to do with something, and whatever it is that I do involves a whole lot of computerized documentation. Oh well. I'll figure it all out when I return there. LOL!
Amy just left to begin her first day back at work. She's all ready to go (as I am, too).
Didn't get a whole lot of stuff done, yesterday. Paid some bills; loaded all of the photo and video files onto my main computer; petted our two "canine family members"; looked outside and enjoyed all of the colors on the trees. Fall is here and we returned just in time to enjoy its full glory. Our plan is to do a nice fall hike this Sunday to enjoy the scenery. I'd do the hike earlier but I have a wedding that I'm video-taping which will require a fair amount of my time and attention both Friday and Saturday. When I'm done here, I'm going to get my audio and video equipment ready for this wedding.
EMSnut45 - I see that you use the "Q", too! In our small, teeny-tiny hospital (with its 3 bed ICU), we can have a small stretch of days of "Q". Then BANG! All "Q" had gone away!!! I'd rather have the work be steady, I guess. The night staff, especially, works well during those "BANG!" times. We have to work well together. But that "bang" can happen anywhere: the ICU, the med/surg floor, maternity, the ER. Often times, that "BANG!" happens in the ER and, when able, all go down to help quell the craziness.
aknottedyarn - I read your update on FB. I sincerely hope that your SO is off the vent soon and continues his recovery. Glad to read that you're getting some much-needed rest. It was interesting reading about "Family Promise". It's nice to read that your son is rightly proud of his mother. "Family Promise" seems like a nice service to the community (if I understand it correctly).
Joe - Your three-day weekend sounds nice. Seems like you have plenty of chores to do to fill it up. Hope you take some time and enjoy the fall weather.
Sabby_NC - I had to put the heat on in our home this morning, too. The fall air, here, is a bit chilly. Hope your workday goes well with your preceptee. I have not doubt that he or she is in good hands.
Got to go and eat some breakfast. Peace to all who travel here. Oh. . . here's one picture taken on top of Bear Mountain.

Great photo Ted. I saw the others on FB. I have a good friend who moved to Arizona a few months ago and she is loving the weather and all the outdoor hiking and other activities she and her husband can enjoy.
Not sure what today will bring. It depends on a number of things.
Our fantastic roofer is back from vacation and working hard to get the roof completed.
Gotta leaving in a few minutes to take my son to band practice.
aky - thanks for keeping us updated. (((aky)))
