Yesterday, Amy and I returned from a wonderful week spent in Italy. Although we've done a fair amount of traveling during our many years together, this 30th Wedding Anniversary vacation was our first trip "across the Atlantic". (It was a present to ourselves.) We had a wonderful time, to put it mildly! Our "home base" was a lovely hotel in Montecatini, Italy. We were part of a 51-person tour group. It was our first time traveling in such a group. Together, we took day trips by bus to places like Venice, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, Florence, and another place which I don't remember. (LOL!) The daily bus trips were long, but the destinations were well worth the longer rides. Because of this type of vacation, we were able to see a whole lot of this region of Italy. But because of time restraints, the well-scheduled tours were quick. This bus tour type vacation gave us a decent "overview" of places that we would like to experience again if/when we return to Italy on our own. Without a doubt, though, this was a fantastic vacation for us!
The following photos is sampling of what we saw in Italy. I shot over 500 photos and video using my happy iPhone 6 during this vacation. Surprisingly, this little "smartphone" took some nice photos. (I left my trusty Canon 70D camera at home because I did not want to risk losing or damaging it.) I hope that these photos serve to "wet the interest" of anyone who might be entertaining the idea of traveling to Europe. Just in Italy alone, there is so much beauty and so much HISTORY to explore.
Great ! Now I've got a picture to hang over my fireplace!
Really, Ted- those are some awesome pics!
