Where should you put all that money you saved from your nursing job?

  1. I was just doing some research on the web and had a frustrating time.

On various websites, I've found IRA calculators but they seem to be only for ROTH and traditional IRAs which some people don't even trust anymore, and myself being one of them.

I've learned that there are numerous places to invest money and numerous types of accounts that generate fixed income.

I was really hoping to find some sort of calculator so I could choose an account type and type in a dollar amount to find out how much I might be able to get. Of course this isn't all you need but most of the information out there does not even tell me how much someone would have to invest for each account type.

I searched for forums on finance and most of the websites I found put me on sensory overload.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

My vote is not on the list. My response is "What money?"

The money I've saved would fit in an oversized piggy bank.

I would have participated in the poll, but a very simple "NO" was not included.

Well, I didn't really agree fully with any of the choices, so I wasn't sure what to check.
"None of the above" wasn't a selection.

After having to dump a huge swath of retirement savings to cover medical and living expenses following a serious accident, I no longer participate in that endeavor. Now any $$ that I have is spent or converted to precious metals for safe keeping. Gold is easy to get, trade, and use here in AK. The amount left over for savings after living expenses is neglible in the world of finance.

A certain percentage of my paycheck goes into the 401K account where my employer matches up to 3%. The rest of the extra money gets put in a savings account dedicated to my travel addiction. I can afford a vacation once a year if I make it a budget trip (fly economy, stay domestic, etc.) or every 4-5 years if I go big (fly first class, 5 star hotel, international travel, etc.).
