Obituary to smile about

  1. 7

After I read this I began to wonder if my family notices my eccentricities, and the fact they are not all crazy.

I wonder if they will remember to include lots of music when they think about my life.

I wonder if they will remember important advice I shared like "People have made me sick by kissing, but no dog has ever given me a disease by licking me."

Most of all, I would love to be recalled with love as this woman has been.

I would have loved to know Pink Mullaney! She sounds like my kinda gal........and she was obviously cherished by her family and friends. What a warm and loving tribute.

When my DH passed away it was about the time when "Bucket List" was rather famous. We wrote such a list of the things my DH would have loved to have shared with his friends and family. He had many things he loved on this list. "Learn how to sail and sail where you can take off all your clothes" was one. He taught himself to sail and is one of the few who can say they sailed in the arctic. He also sailed where it was warm enough and isolated enough to go and leave the clothes below. Years later my DN asked for a copy of that list as he really wanted to do some of the things my DH did.

Also included in the list were things that were important to him, like to donate toys at Christmas, help make a holiday special for an older person, and not to worry about remembering how long he had been married. He taught many men to say the best phrase, "Not long enough".

I hope everyone has that special person in their lives who deserves an obit or remembrance that clearly says that they were loved and special to those who knew them. Perhaps equally important; to be that person who deserves such a send off.

My daughter is privileged to have one of Pink's grandchildren as a teacher. His joy of teaching and serving others is inspirational and a wonderful tribute to his grandmother. She has left a legacy that we are fortunate to experience. I pray that we prove worthy of it.

I won't link it here but strangely . . .there was a story this morning about an obit done by a woman's kids . . the woman was abusive and the obit was blunt.

Much rather have an obit like Pink's.

I read about that other obit. Apparently the woman was a horrible, abusive mother. So sad.

I don't think I'm worthy of an obit like Pink's, but I hope I'm remembered with a smile.

How heartwarming and lovely. Makes me think of my Nana. I think i'll type up something like this from what I learned from her.

I would like to be remembered for my smile, my sense of humor, and if anything else, for how much I loved my family and people in general.
