please help an old nurse....I cannot upload photos

  1. ALL I am trying to do is upload one picture from my album, an already in my computer picture, to shutterfly.

I have printed the shutterfly how to sheet, I have printed the "e-how" sheet, I have looked at you tube how to videos, I have texted my daughter, to no avail.

I log onto my shutterfly account. I click upload, I go to my album, I find the photo, then what? I have been working on this for over an hour. At least I am persistent, if dumb!

Please help. I am not REALLY that dumb with computers, but I send, transfer, upload, etc. pictures maybe once or twice a year and always forget how to do it!

I am not an expert, but usually the process goes like

    1. You click on your "browse" files button. (you already did that)

    2. Select the picture you want to upload by lightly clicking on it so that it is highlighted in blue.

    3. Go to the bottom right of the window containing your highlighted picture and click on the "open" button.

You usually have to do that for each separate picture but your program (in this case Shutterfly) will prompt you on what to do next. Sometimes there's another button that says "upload file" to finish the process. Good luck!

    To the OP,
If you want to post a photo in a link here on AN,
one simple way to do that,
    is use IMGUR.

    imgur: the simple image sharer

^If you click on that, you will see something about "register today" but, you do NOT have to register or any such thing, just look to the upper right hand side of the screen for "UPLOAD PHOTOS"
    Under the "upload photos"
are two buttons, one says "COMPUTER" and the other says "web".

    click on "computer"

then follow Nurse156 advice above---- select the photo from your own photos saved in your own computer,
(make sure your computer opens to photos, if it opens on documents or someplace, then click on the 'photos' so all your photos open up for you to choose one...)
Pick your photo you want to upload
    hit "open"

next, a screen appears on IMGUR, and you again click on the "Upload" button...
and your photo uploads onto IMGUR.

    Then, after photo has uploaded,
you will see your own photo sitting there, and multiple options to share it will be along the right hand side of the screen.

Easy way, instead, is just RIGHT-CLICK on your photo,
    select "copy link location"

then go to comment, and hit "paste". Your post will now have a link embedded into it, like this.
    http://i.imgur.com/XXQ33.jpg

Hope that helps. You can also use IMGUR to post photos onto facebook comments, too.

    i-love-new-

ooh! ooh! i can now upload photos on AN the way Nurse156 says to! I had tried before, but, either i messed it up, or, maybe i was too new of a member to upload photos before.(?)

do members here have to belong to AN for a certain length of time before they are allowed to post photos? if not, i had messed it up last time i tried, ha.

No you don't have to wait to post images, but I just read my directions and I couldn't understand them I'm glad you could! When I post something from the web now I just right click on it. If there is no "copy image" option choose "copy image URL" then click the little image icon at the top of your compose dialog, choose "from the web" and paste the URL in the little box and say "OK". Your image should then show up. I shall now try doing that with the link you posted of your cat that didn't show up as a picture . . .omg why is it so big??? And why is that a dog? Hold on . .well the process apparently worked to post an image file.

I think IMGUR is like photobucket. When you upload a pic that is already on your computer, they have you "generate link codes"

but you are right about Imgur being similar to photobucket,
    but,
to use photobucket, one HAS TO register, and has to log in, each and every time, to post a photo.

    but, with Imgur,

you can go directly to "upload" the photo off your computer.

No passwords, no sign in, nothing,
just straight to "upload the photo"....which is why i like IMGUR better than photobucket. I can almost never remember my photobucket password, ha ha.

There's a cat, too, right? Have I lost my mind? I'm leaving it because that dog is so darn cute. Assuming there actually is a picture of a cat there.

No passwords? I'm on it! Thank you as photobucket is tedious.

All your posts indicate a fully functioning mind, imo!! ha ha, but, nope, no cat in this here photo:
    http://i.imgur.com/XXQ33.jpg

but, the dog IS holding a small toy, so maybe you saw that, and thought the toy was a cat. Also, the dog has some markings that cats can have, too, and the dog is kinda curled up in a cat-looking pose, too, so maybe that's it, so yeah, at a glance, i can see how someone could mistake that dog for a cat in that photo.

but yeah, i think that is a mighty cute dog, too!!

yeah, that IMGUR is super-fast, super-quick way to post a photo as a link into AN comments or even onto facebook comments, too.
    NO registration
    no userID name
    no passwords
    no accounts
nothing........you can just go directly to the IMGUR "Upload a Photo" button, and start there.

The whole thing can be explained by my resistance to getting a decent pair of reading glasses. Thank you for your patience.

bah haha, oh i hear you on that one!! ha!

EY, i just NOW found out, if i click on the small photo, (like the small photo shown in reply #3 above)
the photo gets big enough to see well!!! Geez, all this time, i've been enlarging my entire screen to 300% size to
be able to see those kind of small photos well....duh to me.

we can click on the small photos, to see them better!?
    who knew?
(okayyyyyyyy, probably everyone knew, but me... ha ha)
