iPad 2 vs. iPad 3 vs. iPad Mini - page 2

I've had a first generation iPad for several years now, and it's starting to show its age (the "incident" at airport security certainly didn't help- quite honestly, I'm surprised it survived). So... Read More

BTL, I can't compare the screen to the iPad 2 since I've never used one, but it is MUCH better than the original. It is very light and fast, and great for playing games/reading in bed with the lights off. The only complaint I have is that it's a little small for more than the simple games. It's fine for sudoku puzzles, but a little difficult to see in the hidden object game I occasionally play, which I knew would be the case before I made the decision (and still went with it since games aren't the primary use). Surfing the web on it is fine. Can't really say anything about work uses since mine is for personal use only.

Thank you so much for your review Sweet_Wild_Rose!

UPS just brought mine, and I am really happy with it. I think it is a little to bulky for good camera use(forward facing 5MP)- but I'm sure the tech savy won't mind. The front facing HD camera is soooo much clearer than my iPhone 4s! I Skype with Docs often in the field at foreign mission clinics or to connect with family- couldn't afford Cisco Tech! Apple has brought that cost down now from $4000 to $400(and much better video quality.)

I am disappointed that you can't really buy a cover anywhere here yet, and I'm two hours away from a Bestbuy, Apple Store, or anywhere else with good quality covers(I am accident prone and suffer spontaneous cataplexia, lol). I want a Brown Leather Cover, but I guess I "need" a gawdy otterbox, Lol

I am impressed, it was worth the wait. More than anything, I can lay back in bed now to enjoy Allnurses, rather than sit up with my laptop!!

Ipad mini review: Light, thin, weighs about like my kindle fire which I gave away as I didn't like it. Interfaces well with my EMR (acumen) but doesn't work with the e-prescribing portion of the EMR. However we are getting ready to roll out new charting component so will see then. Screen quality very nice, identical to ipad2. For cover, I ordered wireless keyboard case from amazon for $40. It's leather-like. Lol. Overall very satisfied. Other APNs and docs are jealous.

That's awesome TraumaRUs and Sweet_Wild_Rose. I love mine too, and I'm so glad I held out now for something easier to hold, and smaller/lighter! The battery is phenomenal! I am so grateful for mine.

Is it small enough to fit in a scrub pocket?

That's really one aspect that keeps me from wanting to use an iPad at the hospital.. Problem solved with a mini.
