Apple's new Operating System, Mavericks, is Out

  1. Just wondering who might have updated to OS X 10.9 (Mavericks)? I did on one of my Apple computers, my MacMini. So far, so good. The CPU usage seems to be better controlled and more efficient. I'm waiting to ensure that my audio devices are compatible with Mavericks before updating my MacPro.

Anyone else take the plunge into Apple's new operating system? (I see that they've stopped naming their operating system after cats! LOL!)

Recently updated both of my Apple computers to Mavericks. So far, so good. The CPU usage seems better handled when I work with my audio recording/sequencing/editing program. My video editing programs seems to work better, too, in terms of "zippiness". Haven't worked on either an audio or video project extensively yet. When I do will be the true test for Mavericks.

Mavericks. I love all of my Apple products, just not this new OS.

OCNRN63 - I must say that Mavericks have proven unexpectedly stable for me. Although I'm seeing more usage of my memory, CPU usage seems much better managed when I'm using my audio and video recording/editing programs. Apparently, others are experiencing problems between Mavericks and other programs though (like their email programs and web-browser programs). I would recommend maxing out the RAM, though. I haven't updated my aging 2008 Mac Book Pro, yet, to Mavericks because it can only be loaded with 6 GBs of RAM. Probably won't install that computer with Mavericks because of this. My Early 2009 MacPro computer idles using about 4 to 5 GBs of RAM. But it has 32 GBs of RAM so there's much room for my audio & video programs to simply fly which they do.
